EVIDENCES FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED NAMES:

[[And Muhammad is but a Messenger; many Messengers have passed away before him.]]

[Soorah Aal `Imraan (3):144]

[[Muhammad is not the father of any of your men]];

[So[i]oratul-Ahazaab (33): 40][/i]

And see Soorah Muhammad (47):2; and Sooratul-Fath (48):29.

[[And giving glad tidings of a Messenger who will come after me whose name is Ahmad.]]

[Sooratus-Saff (61):6]

SAHEEHUL-BUKHAAREE: “THE BOOK OF VIRTUES: Chapter (17):

“What has been said about the names of Allaah’s Messengerﷺ; and the Saying of Allaah – the Mighty and Majestic:

[[Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah, and those who are with him are stern against the Disbelievers]];

[Sooratul-Fath (48):29]

And His Saying:

[[Coming after me whose name is Ahmad]]”:

[Sooratus-Saff (61):6]

[no.3532]: “Ibraaheem ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us, saying: Ma`n narrated: from Maalik: from Ibn Shihaab: from Muhammad ibn Jubayr ibn Mut`im: from his father who said: Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said:

“I have five names: I am Muhammad and Ahmad; and I am the one who eliminates (al-Maahee) through whom Allaah will eliminate Disbelief; and I am the first one to be resurrected (al-Haashir): the people will be resurrected after me; and I am the Final (Prophet) [al-`Aaqib].”

Imaam Muslim (no. 2354) has in his narration:
“… and I am the Final (Prophet) (al-`Aaqib), there will be no Prophet after me.”

Imaam Muslim reported [The Book of Virtues: no. 2355]:
“And Ishaaq ibn Ibraaheem al-Hanzalee narrated to us: Jareer related to us: from al-A`mash: from ‘Amr ibn Murrah: from Aboo ‘Ubaydah: from Aboo Moosaa al-Ash’aree who said Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ used to name himself with different names to us, so he said:

“I am Muhammad, and Ahmad, and ‘al-Muqaffee’ (the final Prophet, following on from the previous Prophets), and ‘al-Haashir’ (the first one to be resurrected), and the Prophet of Repentance (Nabiyyut-Tawbah)*, and the Prophet of Mercy (Nabiyyur-Rahmah)*.”

*[i.e. who came with repentance and mercy].

Imaam at-Tirmidhee: reported in ‘ash-Shamaa-il’ (no. 316):
…from Hudhayfah who said:
“I met the Prophet ﷺ on one of the streets of al-Madeenah, and he said:
I am Muhammad, and I am Ahmad, and I am the Prophet of Mercy (Nabiyyur-Rahmah), and the Prophet of Repentance (Nabiyyut-Tawbah), and I am ‘al-Muqaffee’ (the Last Prophet, following on from the previous Prophets), and I am ‘al-Haashir’ (the first one to be resurrected), and the Prophet of slaughter/wars (Nabiyyul-Malhamah).”

Shaikh al-Albaanee said: “I say: Its chain of narration is ‘hasan’ and it was declared ‘Saheeh’ by Ibn Hibbaan (2095); and it is also reported by Ahmad (5/405) and Ibn Sa`d.”

From ‘Awf ibn Maalik al-Ashja’ee -radiyallaahu ‘anhu- who said:
“The Prophet ﷺ went off [one day] and I was with him, until we entered a church of the Jews [in al-Madeenah on a festival-day of theirs, and they disliked that we should enter upon them], so he said [to them]:

“O company of Jews! Show me twelve men who bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah; and then Allaah will remove the Anger that He has upon them from every Jew beneath the sky.”

He said: So they were silent; none of them answered him. Then he repeated it to them, but none of them answered him. So he said:

“You have refused. So by Allaah, I am certainly ‘al-Haashir’ (the first one to be resurrected), and I am ‘al-`Aaqib’ (the Final Prophet.), and I am the Chosen Prophet (an-Nabiyyul-Mustafaa), whether you believe or reject faith.”

Then he departed, and I was with him, until we had almost gone out when a man said from behind us: “Remain where you are, O Muhammad!” So that man said:

“O company of Jews, what sort of a person do you know me to be amongst you?”

They said:

“By Allaah, we do not know there to have been any man amongst us who knew the Book of Allaah better than you do, nor anyone having more religious knowledge than you, nor than your father before you, and nor than your grandfather before your father.”

He said:

“Then I testify in his favour that, by Allaah, he is the Prophet of Allaah whom you find mentioned in the Tawraat.”

So they said:

“You have lied”

And they rebutted his saying and spoke evil of him. So Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said:

“You people have lied; your speech will never be accepted: you have just been praising him, as you have done, with good; but when he believed, then you declared him to be a liar, and said about him what you said. So your speech will never be accepted.”

He said: So the three of us went out: Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ, myself, and ‘Abdullaah ibn Salaam; and Allaah – the Most High – sent down concerning him:

[[Do you see that if this Qur’aan is sent down by Allaah and you disbelieve in it, and a witness from Banoo Israa-eel (i.e. `Abdullaah ibn Salaam) bore witness to its like, and he believed, whereas you haughtily rejected. Indeed Allaah does not guide the unbelieving wrongdoers.]]

[Sooratul-Ahqaaf (46):10]

Shaikh al-Albaanee said in ‘Saheehus-Seerah’ p.81: “Reported by Ahmad (6/25) and the additions are his, and by al-Haakim (3/415-416) and he said: “’Saheeh’ to the standard of the two Shaikh’! And adh-Dhahabee agreed!

However it is to the standard of Muslim alone, since al-Bukhaaree does not include any narrations of Safwaan ibn ‘Amr except in ‘al-Adabul-Mufrad’.”
