Imam Bukhari said, "The Ahl al-Hadith have not used the likes of him as evidence." (Juz al-Qir'ah Khalf al-Imam (p.13) of Imam Bukhari)

Benefits
1. The Ahl al-Hadith existed during the time of Imam Bukhari ie pre 256H

2. The Ahl al-Hadith were a group of people who made deductions. This may have been in any of the sciences, in this particular statement it refers to the acceptance in transmitting hadith

3. Imam Bukhari acknowledging the status of the Ahl al-Hadith as an entity and their authority as evidence.

4. Using the Ahl al-Hadith as a reference point as opposed to other groups eg Ahl al-Fiqh, Ahl al-Usul al-Fiqh etc.

5. The Ahl al-Hadith and Imam Bukhari were diligently busy with hadith and its sciences in order to preserve the divine text ie the statement of the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam), a fundamental of the Din.

Imam Tirmidhi said, "And Ibn Lahiyyah is weak according to the Ahlul Hadith." (Jam'e Tirmidhi 1:16)

Benefits
1. There was a group of people during Imam Tirmidhi’s time in the 3rd Islamic century who were known and referred to as the Ahl al-Hadith. If it is said this is referring to the Muhadithin, then we answer, that you have accepted the existence of this Madhab and so in this era just as you people follow your Madhab we follow the Madhab of Ahl al-Hadith.

2. The Scholars of Ahl al-Hadith dealt with the narrators of ahadith and gave rulings concerning them

3. The Scholars of hadith would disparage narrators.

4. The permissibility of disparaging narrators

5. The efforts of the Scholars of Hadith and Imam Tirmidhi in preserving the divine revelation of hadith and its transmission

Imam Muslim referred to the Scholars of Hadith ie the Muhadithin as the Ahl al-Hadith. (Sahih Muslim (1:55) with Nawawi's Sharh)

Benefits
1. No one has ever denied or rejected that the Scholars of Hadith are the Ahl al-Hadith except those whose hearts are misguided.

2. So when this is one plausible understanding of who the Ahl al-Hadith are, and there are those who intend to emulate or traverse their path, as their path was the path of the Salaf, what is the contention with them calling themselves Salafi or Ahl al-Hadith.

3. The existence of a group of Scholars of Hadith.

4. The Muhadithin are the Ahl al-Hadith

5. The existence of a group called the Ahl al-Hadith during Imam Muslim’s time.

Imam Sijzi (444AH) said, “Ahl al-Sunnah are established upon the creed they had established from the Salaf us-Salihin who took it from the Messenger of Allah sallalahu alaihi wasallam. They (Ahl al-Sunnah) took from the companions because they were scholars and we must follow the narrations from the companions, we have been ordered to follow their way. Therefore, it is necessary to hold onto the way of the Prophet sallalahu alaihi wasallam and the companions and to have belief upon that, and there is no doubt in this regard.” (al-Rad Ala Man Ankar al-Khuruf Wa Sawt (p.9) of Imam Sijzi)

Benefits
1. The creed of Ahl al-Sunnah was based on the creed of the companions and those who intend to traverse the path of the Salaf, the Salafi, Athari, Ahl al-Hadith and Muhammadi are upon the way of Muhammad (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam)

2. The Companions were knowledgeable contrary to the hanafi madhab, who to this day claim some of the companions lacked insight of jurisprudence.

3. The importance to follow the way of the Companions and the Salaf us-Salihin.

4. To adopt the same Creed-Aqidah of the Companions without having doubt.

5. The importance and obligation to follow the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam) and the way of the companions, which was the Sunnah.

Imam Ibn Taymiyyah said, “We do not mean by Ahlul Hadeeth the people who only hear, write and narrate the hadith, rather we mean and refer to the people who memorise, know and understand the hadith both outwardly and inwardly and similarly follow it in the same way. This is the same as the Ahl al-Quran. From the most general characteristic you find with these people is their love of the Quran and Hadith, their desire to seek them and to understand them. Further, whilst loving them acting upon the knowledge they contain. The fuqaha ie the jurists of the Ahl al-Hadith are more knowledgeable than the other jurists with regards to the (Sunnah) of the Messenger of Allah (Sallaahu alayhi wasalam) Their Sufi's are more obedient and follow the Messenger of Allah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) more than the other Sufi's and their rulers are more knowledgeable about the Prophetic Siyasah (politics) than others. The general people of Ahl al-Hadith love the Messenger of Allah (Salallahu Alayhi wasallam) more than the normal people." (Majmu'a Fatawa (4:95)

Benefits
1 - According to Imam Ibn Taymiyyah the Ahl al-Hadith are those who are upon the way of the Muhadithin.

2 - it includes the general people who have adopted the manhaj of following and acting upon the hadith irrespective of their madhabs.

3 - The Ahl al-Hadith love the Quran and Hadith more than the other people and this is evident in them giving them precedence over the madhabs, their fiqhs and their imams.

4 - The Fuqaha of the Ahl al-Hadith are knowledgeable than the rest. So let those who shout where are the books of the Usul of Ahl al-Hadith ask Ibn Taymiyyah about them.

5 - Imam Ibn Taymiyyah defines who the Ahl al-Hadith are and he addresses a group of general people from Amongst the Ahl al-Hadith inferring the general people were upon a madhab, the madhab of Ahl al-Hadith.

6 - The ambitious statement Ibn Taymiyyah was a Hanbali is nothing but a claim based on conjecture. If this holds true with those who claim this with their understanding then let them refer to Imam Bukhari and Imam Inn Khuzaimah as Shafis etc and Imam Ibn Mubarak as Hanafi or a Maliki etc will they do his no, Why not. Ibn Taymiyyah rigorously expounds adhering and following the Quran and Sunnah and the way of the Ahl al-Hadith. Since when does studying and knowing a madhab make you a follower of that Madhab. This is like calling Imam Badi ud Din Shah ar-Rashidi al-Sindhi, a Hanafi!!!!! Exactly totally absurd and clear deficiency in ilm and fahm.

7 - Some of the rulers were from amongst the Ahl al-Hadith and they had knowledge of the Prophetic dealings with other sovereignties.

8 - Imam Ibn Taymiyyah uses the word Sufi. Let not the current day Sufis and their apologists make some noise. For those who know Ibn Taymiyyah writings know that he uses the terms Ahl al-Bidah ise in order to explain to them. There is a general principle, the term being used is defined, if it's meaning exists in the Quran and Sunnah then it is fine if not it should not be used. He is referring to the Zahid and Abids from Ahl al-Sunnah. Furthermore he used to use terms and points as evidence against his opposers.

9. The Ahl al-Hadith write, narrate, memorise, understand and propagate Hadith. Which is superior than the ardent madhabists fiqh only approach.

10. The Muslim should aspire to follow the creed and manhaj of Ahl al-Hadith and the Salafis as they are the ones who intend and try to emulate the Quran and Sunnah inwardly and outwardly.

In explanation of the hadith "There will not cease to be a group from my Ummah that will remain manifest until the command of Allah comes to then and they indeed will be manifest (upon the truth)" (Bukhari, Muslim and also in the Albanian Hadith Masters monumental work Silsilah Ahadih as-Sahihah (4:597 no.1955)

Another narration mentions a group of my ummah will always remain manifest upon the truth. (Muslim also in Sahih Jam’e al-Saghir (no.7289) of Imam al-Albani.

The illustrious and Imam and Scholar, Ahmad bin Sinan (d.259H) said in explanation of this hadith, "They are the people of knowledge and the people of Athar (ie the narrations of our Nabi (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam) and the companions)" (Sharf Ashabul Hadith (p.27 no.49) of Imam Khatib al-Baghdadi. The narration contains Ibn al-Khattab who was authenticated by Abu al-Shaikh and Abu Nu'aym)

BENEFITS
1. The scholars and Ahlul Ilm are the inheritors of this noble Ilm

2. A group of scholars will always remain upon the truth.

3. They will remain firm and steadfast upon this knowledge without wavering.

4. The scholars will always subdue the people of misguidance and deviation.

5. The belief in the existence of a saved sect that will always remain upon the truth, different from the others, unlike the ideas of some of the renegades from the Arab peninsula.

6. The saved group compromises the people of knowledge.

7. Salvation lies in clinging to what has been relayed from the Quran and Sunnah ie the Athar.

8. The scholars guide to the Quran and Sunnah. Totally contrary to the way of the madhabs and muqallidin who lead to the opinion and statements of their imams.

9. Adhering to the scholars and referring back to them, based on ilm and Burhan.

10. Respecting the differences of the scholars without being biased and pushing others to follow your opinion without dalil

Hafiz Ibn ul-Jawzee defines Ahlus Sunnah by saying, “If someone asks that Sunnah is something which is praiseworthy and bid’ah (innovation) is something which is not, but what are Sunnah and bid’ah? We say, every innovator claims that he is from within Ahl al-Sunnah, so we answer them by saying that in the arabic language Sunnah means ‘a way’ and in the Shari’ah it will mean that those who are the Sunnis will be upon the way of the Messenger of Allah, the companions and those which have followed them. They are the Ahl al-Sunnah and in that way there is no room for innovations, as they came about after the Prophet sallalahu alaihi wasallam and the companions (Talbis Iblis (1:135-136)

BENEFITS

1. The people were confused about what Sunnah was and what bidah was in the 5th and 6th century of Islam, hence imagine the confusion in our day and era.

2. Leading from point 1. the sheer amount of work and effort we need to exert to clarify the differences between the two so one can clearly distinguish between the two.

3. The innovators i.e. the Ahl al-Bidah from Ibn al-Jawzis time were even saying they were from Ahl al-Sunnah and there was some seriously misguided people in that era, hence no attention is to be paid to the current day innovators who claim they are from Ahl al-Sunnah who in reality are far worse than the Ahl al-Bidah of the past. Ahl al-Bidah are Ahl al-Bidah and they will always remain Ahl al-Bidah except those who are sincere and seek guidance from Allah.

4. The Sunni, Salafi, Athari, Ahl al-Hadith should be upon the Sunnah and upon the way of the Beloved Nabi (Salallahu Alayhi wasalam).

5. The Sunni should also be upon the way of the Companions May Allah be pleased with them All.

6. The Sunni should also by default be a Salafi as Hafiz Ibn al-Jawzi says those upon the way of the companions. Using the terms Sunni and Salafi are synonymous and it is praiseworthy to use them. It is not self praise nor is it making a cult, rather it is inviting others adopt and to adhere to this way of salvation upon the Manhaj of the Salaf. Similarly, the Manhaj and Salafiyyah is not anyone’s property neither is it restrictive. Anyone restricting it and claiming only they are salafi and others are not without adilah and burhan, should be thrown on the rubbish heap, as this is where it deserves to stay.

7. There is no room for any innovation, here we have Hafiz Ibn al-Jawzi reprimanding the concept of Bidah Hasanah.

8. All innovations are clearly after the era of the Nabi (Salallahualayhi Wasallam)

9. The importance to make a distinction from the people of Ahl al-Bidah, shunning them and their bidahs, warning against the innovation and the innovator with proofs and evidences from the Quran and Sunnah in a manner conforming to the Prophetic methodology.

10. The people in the era of Hafiz Ibn al-Jawzi knew bid’ahs were always something bad without any indication in the slightest of them being Bid’ah Hasanah, hence it can be said the concept of Bid’ah Hasanah is a Bid’ah itself.......DEEP

Ka'b radhiallahu anhu narrates the Messenger of Allah Salllahu alayhi wasalam said "The true din according to Allah is is al-Hanifiyyah which is not shirkiyyah (ie no Shirk) neither is it Judaism or Christianity." (Musnad Ahmad 5/131) Shaikh Zubair Ali Zai said the chain is Hasan ie good (source phone conversation with me in 2005)

This narration is further supported from what has been narrated from The Messenger of Allah sallalahu alayhi wasalam as narrated by Abu umamah radhiallahu anhu "I have not been sent with Judaism or Christianity but rather I have been sent with al-Hanifiyyah which is an easy din." (Musnad Ahmad 5/66) The latter narration has some weakness in it Yet it's meaning is confirmed from what has preceded in previous posts. Imam Tirmidhi said, "And Ibn Lahiyyah is weak according to the Ahlul Hadith." (Jam'e Tirmidhi 1:16)

BENEFITS
1. The Din accepted by Allah is al-Islam

2. Islam is al-Hanifiyyah ie the pure and clear oneness of Allah or his Tawhid and worship of him alone.

3. There is no room for shirk in Islam no matter how many arguments the proponents of shirk put forth.

4. The importance of following Islam properly and completely as this is what the final Messenger of Allah Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam came with.

5. Hanifiyyah is what all of the Messengers of Allah and his Prophets came with, the clear Message of Tawhid despite the alterations and distortions of the people of misguidance, the call and message of Tawhid still and will remain manifest.

999 Statements In Defence of the Salafi Creed and Manhaj

Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said,“Specifically, the term Ahlus Sunnah refers to the Ahlul Hadith and this is because they are included within Ahlus Sunnah for they have firm belief in the attributes of Allah Subhanahu wata’ala and they affirm them, they say that the Qur’an is the speech of Allah not created, they believe that on Yaum al-Qiyaamah the believers will see Allah Subhanahu wata’ala and they accept all the other established principles of creed other than this and these principles are known between the Ahlus Sunnah and Ahlul Hadith.” (Minhaj as-Sunnah of Ibn Taymiyyah (2:221)

BENEFITS

1. Imam Ibn Taymiyyah restricts and specifies Ahlus Sunnah to mean the Ahlul Hadith, so both are one and the same. Let this be a lesson and a reprimand for those naive and shameless individuals who mock the Ahlul Hadith as ahle hades, ahl Hades and other such distorted titles, Know oh naive ones this is an attack on the Ahlul Hadith Ahlus Sunnah as the great Imam Taqi ud din has clarified. The Ahlul Hadith from the sub continent attempt to tread this path of salvation, the audacity to mock them when they are the ones who sacrificed their lives for the preservation and propagation of hadith are repaid with some foolish individual siting on his chair, button pushing passing himself as the next best scholar of the Quran and Sunnah.

2. The Ahlul Hadith and Ahuls Sunnah are Ahlus Sunnah because they have the correct belief and methodology with regards to the sifat of Allah Jalo Wa A'la.This is also rebuking the ideas of Safar and Salman and their cohorts who were extended the boundaries of Ahlus Sunnah to the Asharis and Maturidis. Refer to clarifying statement of Imam Ahmad.

3. The beliefs of the Ahlul Hadith and Ahlus Sunnah are the same as the Salaf with regards to the Sifat of Allah.

4. The Ahlul Hadith and Ahlus Sunnah accept all of the beliefs and these beliefs are known to them.

5. The one who mocks the Ahlul Hadith is an innovator whether he says "The Ahle hadis ..." of the sub continent say this, mocking them belittling them and showing them in a slanderous negative light is indeed a mans degradation of himself alone. Time and time this has been cited on the various mediums and no doubt it is those who have problems with issues of manhaj and the love the Ahlul Hadith have for the Quran and Sunnah. We are not in need 21st century button pushing bedroom "scholars" teaching us to change the manhaj or they know the manhaj better than our illustrious Imams.

Imam al-A'juri said, “That the people who are of knowledge and intellect, whenever they mention an authentic narration from the Messenger of Allah sallalahu alaihi wasallam so it is only the ignoramus who will then say that I only accept that which has come in the Qur’an. It will be said to him ‘you are an individual who has an illness and concerning the likes of you the Messenger of Allah sallahu alaihi wasallam has warned us’.” (ash-Shariah (pg.49)

BENEFITS

1.The people of knowledge, the Scholars or Ahlul Ilm are known to mention the statements of the Messenger of Allah Salalahu Alayhi wasallam and not the fiqh opinions or positions of their respective imams.

2. Imam A'juri equates the people of knowledge and Ahlul Ilm to the people of intelligence, not the youthful ones nor the madhabists or muqallids who are ignorant by default.

3. The People of Ilm and intelligence present the statements of our Nabi Salallahu alyhi wasalam to the ignorant ones who reject the status of the Sunnah or those from amongst the muqallidin from the madhabs who ardently deny hadith by rejecting them and deliberating avoid acting upon them.

4. The Quraniyun or the progressive modernists who want to distort the Quran and Sunnah are ignorant.

5. The people of deviation and misguidance are ill and sick.

6. The Messenger of Allah salallahu allay wasallam has warned us against such people

7. We should also warn against such people and highlight their misguidance and follow his Sunnah and and way of our beloved Nabi salallahu alayhi wasallam.

8. The muqallidin are also ignorant as they fall in the same category.

9. The existence of the people of knowledge, who Allah has blessed and honoured over other groups of people.

10. The safest way is to always accept the ahadith
