What Are The Conditions For A Translator?

قال الشيخ ابنُ العثيمين رحمه الله تعالى في شرح الواسطيَّة (2/36):

"ويُشترطُ في المترجِمِ أربعةُ شروطٍ: الأمانةُ؛ وأن يكونَ عالمًا باللُّغةِ الَّتي يترجمُ منها؛ وباللُّغةِ الَّتي يترجمُ إليها؛ وبالموضوعِ الَّذي يترجمه."



Shaykh Ibn al-Uthaymeen rahimahullaah said in Sharh of Al Wassitiyah (2/36): ''There are four conditions for a translator:

1. Trustworthiness & reliability;
2. To have knowledge of the source language;
3. To have knowledge of the target language;
4. Knowledge of the subject he is translating to.''
