Imam ash-Shaafi’ee speaking to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal:

“You know better about hadith than us, so if an authentic hadith comes to you, then inform me of it, that I may say according to it, whether its source is the Hijaaz or Koofah or Egypt.”
