The Reverence Imam Maalik Had For Narrating Hadeeth
Abdullah bin Mubarak said, "I was with Maalik and he was narrating to us a hadeeth of the messenger of Allah, salla Allahu alayhe wa sallam, (while doing so) he was bit by a scorpion 16 times!
Maalik (grimaced) and he began to turn yellow, yet he continued to convey the hadeeth of the messenger of Allah, salla Allahu alayhe wa sallam.
Once the gathering had come to an end and the people began to disperse, I said 'Oh Abu Abdullah, I saw you acting strange (after you were bit by the scorpion)?' and he (Maalik) said 'Yes, I had to remain patient (after being bit by the scorpion) out of respect for the hadeeth that I was narrating from the messenger of Allah salla Allahu alayhe wa sallam'."
