Imam Ahmad On Fiqhi Issues And Giving The Proper Hadeeth It's Proper Share Of Priority

Imam Ahmad was once asked about a man who had memorized the Qur`an but did not do raf `al yadain and another man who did raf `al yadain but did not memorize the Qur`an, so who was more befitting to lead the people in prayers? Imam Ahmad said : “ The one who has memorized the Qur`an (is more befitting as it was the hadeeth of the prophet that the Imam should be the one who knew and understood Qur`an the most)and he should do raf `al yadain because it is the sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam).
