Definition: Ta'teel - Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al Uthaymeen
Source: Sharh ul ‘aqeedatil waasitiyyah of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al ‘Uthaymeen rahimahullaah page 72

Translator Nasser ibn Najam – words in brackets and footnotes are the translator’s

Meaning:
Rejecting the Names and Attributes which Allaah has affirmed for Himself

Explanation:
Ta’teel has the meaning “emptying” and “abandoning”, just as in His statement, He the Most High:
    …a well which is mu’attalah…
Soorah al Hajj (22) aayah 45

Meaning: empty and abandoned.

And what is meant by ta’teel[1] is:

Rejecting the Names and Attributes which Allaah has affirmed for Himself, whether that be all (of them) or a portion (of them), and whether that is done by tahreef (distortion) or through outright rejection – all of this is called ta’teel.

So the ahl us sunnah wal jamaa’ah do not make ta’teel of any of the Names of Allaah nor of any of the Attributes of Allaah nor do they deny them; rather they affirm them with a complete affirmation.

Footnotes:
[1] In this particular instance, i.e. by Ibn Taymiyyaah rahimahullaah in Al Waasitiyyah
The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Make things easy and do not make things difficult. Give glad tidings and do not repel people..”
