Abandoning Al-Sunan Al-Rawatib (supererogatory acts that were stressed and regularly performed by the Prophet)
First question from fatwa no. 7404
Q1: Some people leave the Masjid (Mosque) quickly once the Imam finishes the Salah (prayer) without offering the Supererogatory Salah or Istighfar (seeking forgiveness from Allah). Will they be punished for doing that?
A: They will not be punished for abandoning the Supererogatory Salah. But they will be deprived of it's reward. Moreover, it is better for them to perform Al-Sunan Al-Rawatib at home. They should not leave before saying the Adhkar (invocation and remembrances said at certain times on a regular basis) that should be said after performing Salah.
May Allah grant us success! May Peace & Blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions.
